Advice from those who may have handled/had/have one, on a Savage 219 single shot rifle.

What things should one look for when considering a purchase? What are some common problems they might have had? Are they worthwhile, for what they are, as a useful rifle?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!

I had a 30-30 & 22 Hornet in the Sav 219 years ago.The worst part was getting them drilled & tapped to mount a scope on.They were both good shooters but there long gone.DAN>>>

i still have and am currently restoring my .30.30.
it was my grandpas, my dads and now mine. It shot a lot of game, fed our family. I learned to hunt with it. It has a 26 in brl and shoots great for .30.30.
NEVER a problem with it other than the stock cracked at the reciever, but the dam thing is old and was used lots. You can get different bls for it in several cal.
I would never sell mine but it is sentimental, but i plan on hunting with it yet.
makes people look twice when you carry that on point compared with all the scoped missel launchers so common nowadays.
I don't know what one is worth. Take it apart and check the break lug for cracks and the stock where it meets the reciever. Of course check the blr for wear and the firing pin. But not much to go wrong them. Good gun.
