Savage 220

I've been thinking of getting a Savage 220. Looked at one the other day in the LGS. I found the action very, well lets say gritty. It was not very smooth. Is this normal for the 220? Can this be worked out/polished out into a smother action?

Action grittiness doesn’t matter a hill of beans. Mine slicked up a bit after use, but it shoots Rem Accutips so well it’s scary. Got my 9 point buck this year with mine at 237 yards no BS. Rifle accuracy from a shotgun what’s not to like for us stuck with a shotgun only season.

Spend some time cycling the bolt in front of the tv for an hour and it smooths out. Won’t be as smooth as finer bolt actions, but fine enough for its purpose. They are stupid accurate so I can forgive the sloppier action...
