I would like to hear from anyone with the model 25. Likes/dislikes, I'm looking at getting one in 223/204 to replace my old calling rifle.

I am on the fence..........seen a few and held a few......

the 25 is kind of a clone and larger model of the rimfire rifles, their is not to much interchangeability between the model 25 and all of the other savage rifles, the trigger is crude and bolt disassembly is not for the faint of heart........I'd look at a model 10 rather then the 25, oh and to top all of that off.......thumb hole stocks don't work for me at all

I've found the bolts stiff and the actual rifle clunky. Accuracy was decent but I'd prefer the 10 series. Even an axis for what it's worth. I happen to like the thumb hole stock.
It does seem like a beefed up mark2 rimfire

I bought one in .223, decent shooter, mine likes it better after it is warmed up, changing out a barrel isnt possble as it is pinned. Trigger pull is smooth, bolt with the floating head is a bit different. Good gun but next time id buy something different.

Caliber specific bolt. Feels dinky, if that explains it for you. I love shooting the rifle, but if I had my time back I would have bought the model 10. Or even another brand for that matter. Mine has the accutrigger and monte carlo stock, it just feels right when i shoulder it. Semi heavy fluted barrel as well.

I have the thumbhole stock and wouldn't have it any other way. Love the thumbhole; but that's me.
Accuracy for me has been sub MOA. I am only shooting my reloads though so not sure how well it would do with generic factory ammo.
I load 60 grain hornady v-max with win 748.
My only complaint is that my 25 has the gloss finish barrel. I wish I had the matte.
Accutrigger is very nice. Breaks clean.

YMMV

I owned a Savage 25 Lightweight Varminter and had excellent accuracy with it with my own reloads.....223 that is...Easy to shoot one ragged hole at a hundred yards...Thing I did not like was the weight of the rifle...Just to darn heavy for me...I sold it and bought a Walking Varminter in the same cal...but I found it wasn't as accurate as the Lightweight although it would shoot moa at a hundred so I sold it too......Now I'm looking at .22-250.....
