My buddy's father bought one recently in 204 Ruger. He liked my Savage Model 12 VLP and the cartidge but wanted a light weight gun for coyote shooting. He went with the Model 25 and he has been happy with it. The accuracy has been good and he likes the Accutrigger plus the detachable box mag is good in a coyote gun when you like to be loaded as soon as you are out of the vehicle.
The Model 25 is built for the 223 case family so it is smaller than the typical short action rifle. It is not the same action as what Savage used on their 22 Hornet rifles (the model 40????) The model 25 has been designed to handle the higher pressure of the 223 and 204.
If you want a light weight gun for carry and offhand shooting it would fit the bill just fine. I want to take advantage of the barrel swapping abilities of the model 110 type savages so personally I will go that route.
I have one in a 204ruger and was really suprise to see groups under and inch with factory loads and closer to a half inch with handloads. Great gun for the price, accutrigger took a little getting used to.
