I purchased a savage 25 walking varminter in 17 Hornet and had it out for the first time today fired 5 shots from 25 yds out to 150 yards. The action is silky smooth, feeds from the clip perfectly and accuracy was bang dead-on. I've read many reviews about people having cambering, locking actions after firing and poor accuracy, well the firearm I have certainly exceeded my expectations buy leeps and bounds.

Any other CGN'ers have experience with this firearm.

I have the model 25 with thumbhole stock in .204 ruger. We had a bit of a rough beginning but after some work it is a phenomenal gun. I sanded down the stock so that it was not touching the barrel anywhere, trimmed trigger spring and polished sears (now down safely to about one pound). Also sanded down some other metal pieces that were causing rough use here and there. All in all about an afternoons work. Last time I took it shooting I took 5 shots to get it on the MOA black dot and then the next five were all touching each other, kind of like a horizontal line. This was off of a bipod with some decent cross winds. Not that it would matter much at 100 yards but I'm pretty confident that with a rest this thing would be even better. Not that I'm complaining, it already shoots better than I can. Very little fouling too :D
