Savage 340 question

The firing pin seems to back out after a period of time resulting in a misfire condition where the pin stick out of bolt face...any advice?? I have been screwing it back in with pliers but that seems a poor option to me.

I would take it to a good gunsmith. 340's are simple and easy to fix. An issue like yours is very dangerous.

Check the cocking piece. There should be a little semi-circular piece in a slot which engages the square shank of the firing pin, and keeps it from unscrewing.
