Savage 340D

I am wondering if or who has put a 3-9×40 Bushnell trophy on one of these old savages. Everything I have read says that it is a tricky feat. There is already a weaver 1" side mount on it, but it had an old beat up straight 4 power scope on it and I want to upgrade the optics to something a little newer. Can anybody help me? I am in the Edmonton area.

mine has a 3-9x40 simmons 8 point on it with the weaver mount, bolt just misses the scope. cant help with Bushnell trophy part though

Thanks, wheelin_ca. From the rings that are on the one I have the thicker part of the scope where the adjustments are made won't allow for the scope tube to sit in the rings. So I guess I am in search of different ring set up for the base.
