Savage 38 special bolt lift kit

I saw a posting on another site about a bolt lift kit made from the base of a 38 psecial. You drill out the primer pocket and gule in a ball berring, or tap it and thread in a small set screw. you then polish the protrusion. It goes between the bolt handle and the BAS. Has anybody here tried this or another version? Does it work? Do you need to shorten the BAS or the spring?
 
You don't need to drill, glue or polish anything. Shorten the BAS to compensate for the case and bearing. I install them very often and remove .080" off the assembly screw. This lift kit does not work with the newer actions with a cocking indicator.

I'll just throw out that there is more to bolt timing a Savage then adding a part.

And with my bolt timing jobs, I don't use a part that has epoxy in for fear of eventual failure. No the bearing (I don't use one) does not fall out per se but the epoxy may degrade with oil based lubes and the parts separate.

Due to the possibility of making a bolt non functional by inccorect timing process, I will not give instructions.

I haven't gotten any of those radial bearings for the newer actions with the cocking indicator. I think they would help a little but not as much as the older kit on an older action. When I true and time a Savage I machine the action and bolt and completely disassemble and inspect every piece. They are a lot better when adjusted properly. I have mentioned before that I do not use epoxy, it isn't required and could flake, unlikely but I don't bother regardless.
