Hi all. So, the problem is not enough sight adjustment on a Savage 64. Rear sight is as low as it can go, and still shoots high. It is a new rifle, and is shooting approximately 5" high with the rear sight at its lowest position at 30 yards. Is there any quick and easy options to remedy this? Thank you.

Hi Neos, I have a 64 (great price!) that was doing a similar thing. I read somewhere that the bedding screws can come loose or be torqued different, I took mine out, loctited them, and now it's shooting MUCH better. I also just put a cheap rimfire scope on ours today and it is very accurate now! I didn't realize until I took it apart that it is a made in Canada gun... cool...

Thank you for your tips and advice. I will have to look into that. I will scope it, but want to get it sighted in just in case something happens to the scope.

If I may ask, what did you torque them to if you can recall. Or even close to what you may have done. Thank you.

Lock tight and make sure bolts are tight and it should be pretty accurate with stock scope. Mine is fairly accurate at that.
Also make sure you sight at at a 100 yards range or at least 50 yards to get it properly sighted

Hi, do you guys find your Savage 64 being picky on ammo to shoot straight, or does it take the cheap 22lr ammo and still shoots with a close group at 100 yards when sighted properly?

I wouldn't say its too picky about ammo, but personally i found the CCI mini mag works best for me, american eagle too.
Tried federal last week and for some reason couldnt get through a full magazine without bolt not fully locking forward after it cycles the new round in.but in terms of accuracy, haven't seen a noticeable improvement with certain type of ammo
