I just bought Savage 64f but I ran into some problems with scope mounts. 64 is not drilled & tapped for rails therefore I'm looking for actual rings that will fit this little plinker. I'm wondering is somebody could point me to the right product that works for this rifle?

Thanks in advance,

The Savage 64F has a grooved receiver, so you'll be looking for some 3/8 dovetail rings to mount your optic.

Subsequently you can also get a 3/8 to Weaver adapter if you already have rings you would like to us.

I have 11mm dovetail rings which don't fit, they're too wide. 3/8" should be around 9.5mm?

Brian01 - I do not know what brand that you have - but pretty common that 11 mm is the size used on European rifles - so is measured 11 mm across the top of the flat - side angles are usually 60 degrees. North American made, or made-for-export to North America, for some reason, measure dovetails across the bottom - so should be 3/8" across down there, but is very hard place to measure with normal devices. The side angles are almost always 45 degrees. I have rings from Warne - is a "dot" on the clamp - as per instructions, dot is either up or down for 11 mm or for 3/8" dovetails - it fits to either size - I do not know if other makers do that or not.

Go to link below - was discussed previously on CGN - that thread has sketches, etc. and links to other sites with this information:

Thanks for the info. I have Burris 11mm dovetail rings mounted on my CZ 455 and CZ 457 and they work very well although they're flat mount. The curvature of Savage dovetail rail might be a problem? I found these on Amazon.
