I really like it, it has a slightly longer barrel than a Ruger, only think I dont like is I am limited to 10 round clips.. Does anyone know if I can get a 25+ round clip for the Savage 64 series

I really like my 64, but im in the same boat as you, the mag sucks!

The feed lips on mine are wearing away and causing jams. Why they decided to make them from pot metal is beyond me, and the lack of aftermarket larger mags sucks too

I am working with a friend to make a larger mag, hopefully it pans out.

I have had an original Cooey 64 magazine, and a butler creek in the same cage for decades...no hybrid yet.

....and nothing larger than the 10 round mag.. I have looked everywhere, even tried modding the remington 597 25 rounder but to no avail.

There is very little, if any, aftermarket stuff for any Savage. Virtually nothing for their .22's.

Congrats on your first firearm purchase, 22LR is a sensible way to start. I found the 64 to be pretty accurate right out of the box, and a fixed 4x scope complements it nicely. The mags are definitely not my favourite. Tried filing/polishing front ramp, rear lips, to no avail. Maybe someone can come up with a slightly different follower? I download them to 8 or 9 rounds and have far fewer feeding issues.

Savage Arms has the accutrigger info on their page, but it only has the standard trigger
