Savage 72 falling block

Anyone here familiar with a Savage model 72 falling block? I have just picked up a used one and I think there may be something wrong with it but am not familiar with a correctly working one.

What's it doing or not doing ?

Pretty much a Stevens Favorite, made using modern production techniques (powder Metallurgy sintered parts instead of machined from solid or cast, etc.)

Anyone here familiar with a Savage model 72 falling block? I have just picked up a used one and I think there may be something wrong with it but am not familiar with a correctly working one.

If you are wanting an answer, you are going to have to have the correct question. There can be a dozen or so problems with your rifle, and for someone to guess what is wrong is just asking too much.

So, lets have a bit more SPECIFIC information. Does it close properly? Does it accept the cartridge properly? Does the hammer ####? Does the Hammer stay back when cocked? Does it fire when you pull the trigger? Does the empty case eject?

In other words, what is it doing, and what is it NOT doing that you think it should be doing?

This is not a "smart ass" post, but simply one to try to help you with your problem. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum, and someone WILL help you, but it is up to YOU to give them the correct information.
