Today I got my .17HMR that I bought from a guy on the market place on monday. All I can say is SWEET. This is now my 2nd favourite gun next to my 10/22. It came with a decent scope but I wanted a bit more power so I bought a BSA Sweet 17. Im not sure exactly how "good" this scope is supposed to be, but it had all the features I wanted at a price I could afford and so far, im VERY happy with it. Got it sighted in quickly and re-set the turrets and it is perfect.

Heres a shot of the gun with the scope:

Heres my best 50 yard group:

I then set the turret to 150 yards, touched NOTHING else and shot these 2 groups in a row... at 150 yards:

I shot a mix of federal, CCI and Hornaday, all 17grain. It shot best with the federal, but fine with the hornaday. The CCI shot fine, but this happened to 2 rounds out of 25:

Didnt happen with any of the other brands and I shot more of them... so im going to stay away from CCI with this gun.

Overall I couldnt be happier with this package. Exactly what id hoped it would be. Should help improve my longer range shooting skills big time.

Next up is a boyds stock and a better Bi-Pod. Dont know which stock just yet. But ill be buying one in the next few weeks.
 
Got the same rifle except I still have the combo glass on it and a Harris bipod, your got to love the accutrigger, enjoy.

Those are some nice barrels. I also have a savage 93 17 hmr and love it.
I would like a barrel with a brake to help reduce recoil on mine :eek: Just kidding.

I would like to know more about the barrels though as they do look cool.
 
They sure dont look like stock barrels with threaded brakes. There doesnt appear to be a seam. But, if your right, the workmanship is literally perfect. I wish there was a way to cut down a bit of the noise... I know a brake wont but I wish I could just deaded the snap of the .17... I like it, but its scaring away all the targets.

Look closer you can see where the break start and the barrel ends
 
You probably right. Id love to have one of those on mine. Just looks great. I shot a 4 inch group at 300 yards today. Didnt bother to photo it because the distance isnt something you can see in a picture. Ive got a great area setup now as well so ill be doing a lot more practicing. After shooting at this distance, I can really see why high end optics would be a big plus. At 200 yards I could see the target just fine and things were relatively sharp, but anything farther and things get blurry... on the other hand, the distance specific turrets are dead accurate. From 200-250-300 I was shooting the exact same height over the bullseye by only adjusting the turret.
 
its a cheap plastic "lightweight" bi-pod that flexs more than it should. It was the first one I bought when I first got my 10/22 and didnt know better. Now I have a harris style (but a cheaper brand) and its much nicer overall.

This gun is now up for sale as I upgraded to another 93r hmr and some new, more powerful glass.
 
I get the same bullet crushing issue with mine, I have the same thing but in synthetic. I think its a magazine issue, one of the 5 rounders I have is notorious for it.
 
Just bought 2X 10 rounders for my new gun. With 10 in, they wont feed the first round. Too much pressure pushing up, the lip of the bullet gets jammed in the feed lips of the mag. 9 rounds feed fine, but neither mag would feed with 10.
