Anybody have one (22wmr only plz) ? I've handled one, but never shot one...

Specifically, I'm potentially buying the BSEV. Tell me everything you can about yours !

Probably driving a 6hr round-trip this week to buy one, just want to make sure I'll be happy with it before I commit.

I'm hoping it to be as close to a "tack driver" as possible, and want it to function dependably while not sacrificing quality or fit-n-finish.

I already have an optic to put on it, Nikon ProStaff-5 SF 3.5-14x50 BDC...

Not this model but I have a stainless bull barrel 93 in 22 WMR with a 4x16x50 Vortex Viper on it. I don't want to burst your bubble but 22 WMR is not exactly a tack driver caliber. On a good day I can do 1 MOA but more typical a 1.5 MOA rifle. Most 22 center fire rifles will do better than that. Some CZ and Anschutz Rifles might do better. Fit, finish, and function will be flawless though I get a miss fire every couple hundred rounds but that's rimfire for ya. That scope will do fine. Have a Prostaff on a Tikka T3 that works well.

It's not the rifle it's the round.

You are limited by the quality of the .22wmr ammo. There is no match ammo for these, you won't get consistent 1moa whether it's a Savage or an Anschutz or a Cooper.
That's why people went ape#### for the 17hmr...sub moa as long as the wind isn't blowing lol.
The 93's function fine, but they are not exactly the smoothest or the prettiest guns, more utility then refinement. The way they attach to the stock is not really ideal & I'm not a fan of the accutrigger for target shooting.
Mags are cheap (and made in Canada) but I had to smooth off 4 out of 5 that I bought as they were shaving sharp out of the package.

got the 93R17 FVSS ... if you want a tack driver go 17hmr and never look back (rimfire speeking)

I shot that this afternoon at 50 yards prone, each square is half inch ... second time firing it! Ignore the dropped one... operator mistake that damn trigger is lighter than my other savage.

anyway still a darn good grouping for a average shooter and non match ammo

and goos news, the model you seek is available in 17hmr

I agree with what Capt. JL Pinard said. I have a .17 with the thumb hole and it's way more accurate that I deserve.....

I can't comment on .22mag....

So you don't have a BSEV or BTVSS ?

My friend has a BTVSS and I have a an FVSS, Both are 22 WMR. Both use the same receiver, bolt, barrel attachment, and stock attachment as the rifle you seek so I would say that performance should be about the same. Both shoot about 1.5 MOA.

As the folks here are telling you go 17 HMR if you want a "Tack Driver" but if the winds are up forget it. As were telling you 22 WMR is not what you want for high accuracy.

I'm not looking for a competition rimfire rifle... But do want it to be accurate.

That being said, I've read reports of guys getting MOA (or slightly better) with a variety of 22wmr rifles/ammo.

Regardless, I bought one anyway... I plan on accurizing the gun, a bedding job is in the works and I'll be lapping/aligning the scope tonight.

I put a $600 scope on a set of lapped Leopold rings and bed the action. Tried every brand and weight of ammo I could get my hands on as well my friend did about the same. Dianne at P&D even rolled her eyes at me as I was handing over the hundreds, I should have known better and listen to advice that people were telling me. You can spend all the time and money you want on that rifle but that round is what is going to hold you back. If you do get the "Tack Driving" performance you seek let us know. We could all benefit from improving our 22 wmr experience. Good luck.

If you can tolerate ammo prices...yez. My most accurate gun ever at 100y was a 93r17 Btvss. My butterfly hunter. OUTDOES my Pr getups costing 15 to 30 times more as long as the wind doesnt blow and you are unger 100y.

I have the BTVS and it will shoot under 1 inch at 100 with the right ammo. CCI 45gr JHP is my favourite. The rifle fits like a glove also, one rifle I will not sell. I also have the 93R17 in the Mako stock and that thing is a tack driver. At 100 in no wind you can put 5 rounds in the same hole if you do your job.

5 shots, had a twitch in my hand and pulled the 5th...

I have a bsev spiral fluted stainless. It is very accurate. My wife who doesn't shoot often looking through a 4-12 x40 asked what the rings were (bdc) I said just use the second one down and she went about her shooting. I checked after 20 rounds and she punched the middle ring out at 100 yds. I am more than please with mine. I had to take it from her and make sure she wasn't rain man lol
