I am thinking about buying a rimfire, and I like the 93 FVSS. Does anyone have any info on accuracy/reliability for this rifle? I know savages are usually good, but I can't find a whole lot of information on the internet for this specific rifle.

Also, can anyone give me an idea of how much .22 WMR ammo costs vs .22lr? I know it's more expensive, but how much?

Thanks

Can't comment specifically on the 93FVSS rifle, but the actions should be the same for them and the 93R17 series (the type I have). I've just had mine out once, and it's great so far. No problems with rounds mis-feeding, mags fit fine (no 10 rounders, though :() overall fit and finish is excellent. Never even shot a 22WMR so I can't comment on the accuracy of the round.

As for price, bulk 22lr goes for about $1.80/50 rounds. 22WMR is ~$8-10/50 rounds.

I have one in .17HMR it is golden. I love it. 4-12x42 Scope and that thing can shoot the primer on a shotgun shell at 150 yards. 50 rnds for $18 is the only problem with .17HMR

I own a 93 FVSS in 22WMR ... ammunition costs a bit more than 22LR. Accuracy is great.

The only problem I have with mine is getting the magazine to lock in. Sometimes takes a double tap to get it in a locked. If is doesn't lock in, it has a tendency to scrape the bullet head on the breech on the way into the chamber. Other than that, the rifle performs great.

I had this problem with my 93R17-FV as well; however, after being used a bit the problem went away. I beleive it is the mechanism (that spring tab) which locks onto the magazine which is a bit stiff when brand new.

I had small burrs on the mags which prevented the mags from locking in properly. Quick touch with needle files and all is good.
