Hey guys!

Well i finally got something real nice! Last weekend, i bought a Marlin XT17-V, and you prolly read the thread on it, but it ended up being a total dud. The barrel was, well, wrong! It was shooting groups of 3-4" at 30 yards with any hollow point ammo, and 16" KEYHOLED groups at 35 yards. I brought it back to the store i got it from and got a total refund.

Here's where the good part starts, I ended up looking at Savage's, first one i looked at was the 93R17-BTVS, and i almost picked it... real nice. Then i looked at 93R17 BRJ, That looked like a nice rifle! Then The 93R17 TR, and i liked the black wood stock, oversized bolt, and barrel. It was almost my choice, then i picked up the 93R17 BSEV, and i KNEW i had to have it..... So i did!

Today me and my son went and sighted it in, and MY GOD, does tat thing shoot well! We started sighting it in 3 shots at 30 yards, just to get the scope lined up, and that was easy, then we did 6 shots at 50 yards, it took a few adjustments to find zero, then off to 100 yards, and then it started to become fun! we managed to put a few rounds right into the same hole a couple times! this thing drive's tacks! I feel the need to get a better scope now, as the reticle (Virtual Zone Reticle) is a bit on the thick side for me. Im using a Tasco 4x16x40 (DWC416x46N). The zoom is fine, and the adjustable objective is great too, i just need a "finer" reticle.....

Anyone else here have The 93R17 BSEV? what are your thoughts? and what ammo do you find to be the most accurate? Oh, and the trigger on this thing.... Truth is the pro trigger on the Marlin was real nice as well, but the Accutrigger is a real plus to shooting this gun. I could NEVER have pulled off those shots with a regular 7-8 lb pull standard overtravel/creep trigger, thats for sure! And my 9 yr old loves i as well.... the look on his face after he pops a near bullseye at 100 yards, priceless!

what are your thoughts on this gun?

A happy Savage guy!

I have the same rifle in 22lr. It's as good as you say. Even in 22lr you need to shoot at 100 yards if you want to have any type of challenge. Great gun, and made in Canada!
