Hey all,
New owner of a nice synthetic Savage 93r17 :) I did some looking, and can''t seem to find any concrete info about a couple things. Is there a comparable replacement stock, much like the Hogue overmold? Also - has anyone found a list of compatible, 1-piece scope bases for this rifle? Or, alternatively will the two-piece be sufficient?

Cheers!

In terms of comparable stocks?
not really. Boyds makes a couple of options - these are mostly laminate wood options.
evolution guns works makes a one piece base - you can also get a 20moa elevation.
I would just buy a few extra boxes of ammo- I've never had a problem with my factory 2 pc base on my 93r17bvts - and it's had a lot of abuse.

Awesome - great info, thanks. Unfortunately, my rifle did not come with the factory 2 pc base.....I wonder if it was supposed to be in the box and/or installed already. I'll give Savage a call and find out.

EGWs are nice for looks, but as na1lb0hm suggests, aren't really necessary. I've built-up a 93 with a Boyd's stock and the necessary metal from Savage. (mag plate, trigger guard, fasteners) and I think it was about $175+ when the dust settled. I recently bought a Savage FV-SR (.22lr) that has a factory EGW base, if you want to know what they look like on a Savage 93-type action. I knew going in I didn't want to blow a hole in a $200 bill :) so I ordered a black rubber, "monte carlo" screw-on riser from "Accu-Riser" in the states. Makes these Savage stocks perfectly acceptable, even pleasant to use. I'm very pleased, and feel NO temptation to go the Boyd's route. As nice as they are. In fact, it's re-ignited my interest in getting another 93FV one day..

I've posted this photo a couple of times recently, but this is my daughter putting the FV-SR to good use on some shotgun hulls @ 50 yards.

Awesome - I really want to get out and start shooting this rifle, but even the Savage factory mounts are difficult to find. I am ok without replacing the stock; I do like the feel of the Hogue on my 10/22 however, so I was curious if it was made for Savage. As for a riser, that doesn't look too bad on the rifle! I might just do what na1lb0hm suggests and grab extra ammo instead :) Can never go wrong with more ammo!
