I just bought a used rifle. Seller said approximate round count of 600. I just got it in the mail.
Upon inspection I found that the extractors don't match. The right side looks newer than the left. It's black and has a sharp hook. Vs the left side, that is stainless looking and the hook is angled. Worn?

Is that normal?

Also, the bottom of the bolt where the sear engages is grooved and bent down a bit.
The scope it came with is not the same magnification stated in our communications. He said it was 4-16, but it's actually a 3-12.

Does the estimated round count make sense?
Has the extractor been replaced?

I've messaged the seller, but he's not responded yet. I don't want to draw and conclusions until he responds, but what do you think of this deal?

# 1 thing is as long as the gun is accurate and works than alls ok. Still, thats a shady deal. why the heck people lie is messed.

The round count, even tho we will assume a more real # of 800 is ok. The biggest thing that kills a .17 hmr is bad cleaning or over cleaning with the wrong tools. Bigger bores you can get away with but the .17 is so small that most cleaning rods have bairly any clearance. Use a bore guide and a good rod with Teflon coating. the 3 pice alum and steel rods can easily hit the rifling and possibly cause flat spots. just a tip.

Biggest thing I think u need to do now is try some brands of ammo and see what kinda groups the gun can do.

THat is how the extractors look. Mine is the same way and has been since I took it out of the box new from the store. My round count is maybe 300. FOr ammo I would go with hornady 17gr. Seems to be some of the best in these savages.

That's good to hear! Thanks guys! And I'm going to chalk up the error on the scope to an honest mistake. Everything else has been on the level.
