I held one of those today. It was in .22 WMR though. If it was not for the fact that I am in college right now, it would have been coming home with me.

I was suprised at the lightweight and length of the barrel. To describe the finish wouldnt do it justice. Very sharp looking rifle.

I really want one in 17 HMR!!!

Just gotta save up the pennies..

weight wise not to bad, alot lighter than my .308 10 FP LE. Now my BV in .17 shoots like a dream, i didnt even feel the need to try any other ammo at this point, the Federal 17 grain hp's work great. now to find time to get some gophers, the buggers are already out on the snow here. I am overly impressed with the accuracy that the Savage brings to the table.

I sure am glad to be reading that the savage hmr's are good guns.. i pick mine up tomorrow.. cant wait to hit the range with it to make sure i know where its shooting then go find some of those pesky little gophers..

I was always a fan of the Marlin .17HMRs, but after buying this Savage BV model, I have to say I just love it.
My groupings have tightened up after a few boxes of ammo.
Last week at Genesee, at 100 yards, I had a ragged hole 3 shot group.
I've also notice how much wind plays a factor with these little rounds.
Between gusts of wind (20-30kph?) I managed to shoot the above group but when I shot during a gust, the bullet would fly off approximately 1.5-2".

beauty gun.

I wish savage would become a little more popular. It is hard trying to sell a savage on these boards! I think they are leaps and bounds above remmington!

They have some smooth actions though, I must admit. I was very impressed with my savage (111fcns in 270)and plan to get another one soon, in either 243 or 270.
