I picked one of these up on the weekend and I'm just waiting for my Burris rings to arrive so I can mount the scope and I'll try her out.
First 17 HMR I've owned and it was a toss up between the 93R17BVSS and the Marlin XT-17VSL, but I already have a .22 Marlin, (a 60SS), so I decided to add a Savage to the collection especially since it was in stock. Thanks for the replies stating they are both decent guns. I couldn't find too much saying anything bad about them. One of the sales guys at Cabella's didn't even know they came in grey laminate or that they even had them in stock until he saw me handling it.
Yes I also considered the CZ's but they're a bit above my budget and even though they're supposed to be better, I couldn't justify it for my purposes. I'll post a pic of it once the glass is mounted on it. Now I just have to find out where to get the nickel mags in 5 & 10 shot. All they seem to have is the black steel ones.
