I found a Savage 99 with full wood in 250-3000...Never seen one before but made an offer none the less...Anyone ever see one???How rare???

A fellow on 24hr campfire has one. I don't think they came that way from the factory - by full wood you mean mannlicher stock, right?

I was thinking it might be a Savage 99 musket. They had full wood factory stocks. Not sure what calibers those were availble in though.

Muskets were all 303s.

There was a guy yrs ago converting 99s into custom type guns.
He used to go to a few gun shows.
I remember he had a number of 99s he had added full wood to.
All his guns were in as new condition thou as in re-blued, etc.
The "well worn" part confuses me thou, unless he used a cheap cold blueing that has worn off already?

What ever it is it's not original thou.

Definitely been done, Savage never made a 250-3000 with a mannlicher stock.

If it was in 303 Savage I would have thought you found something real special.

Wheres my 7mm-08?

MadDog, I was just looking in the Blue Book and saw reference to a Model 1899-D Military Rifle (Musket) which came in .30/30 and .303 Savage and sported a round 28" or a 30" barrel, a bayonet lug, and two barrel bands. The reference to the two barrel bands made me wonder if this was a full length version, you might even have one.

No, Savage never made a musket in 250 Savage. I know what your talking about but I don't think this is the case with this gun.

I've seen a couple 99's where custom stocks were added to make them full wood but never a factory option. I remember one 99 had a real nice tiger stripe Mannlicher stock.

I believe I saw that one makeing the tour of gun shows about 10yrs? or so ago.
It was a beautiful gun.

Buckbrush: Nice rifle. The fore stock is in the style of the Oberndorf Afrikaans rifles. I smell Griffin and Howe custom all over that rifle.
