Savage 99 in .300 for $400

What model,pre mil?Original or a bubba job? It sounds reasonable they are fine hunting rifles.

It depends on the model and the condition.I wouldn't pay $400 unless it was in very good condition.

Title of his post says .300.The .300 sav is a good cal very close ballistically to the .308.Easy to get ammo for as well.

I was just looking to confirm that it was not a 303 savage or a 308win,as many savage 99s were.I personally would much rather have a savage 99 in 308win,if I didn't reload.

I have a 99c in 308 Win but I run into several varieties of this rifle regularly.
The 300Savage is one of the more common and you can read about them in any of the reloading manuals and online at the Remington or Hodgdon site. Another common version is the 250-3000 or 250Savage. I have also run into a 303Savage which is their own as well. Great rifle though and I sure do like the 99c I have now. Not likely to become a safe queen.
