Hello!
One of my friends has a very nice Savage 99 in 300 Savage to sell.
How much do these go for usually? I know there are many variations and shades in those rifles but what can be the average for a very clean average rifle?
If it looks like a real newbie question, that's OK: I'm one on this...:D
PP.

Depends on the actual model--250's and .308's seem to be more sought after for hunting rigs--although there is no finer deer/black bear cartridge than the .300 savage.

My 99 in .300 sav. holds 6 rounds. On this day I needed all six rounds in a hurry.

Handsome is as handsome does, as they say in the Shire.

Speaking of 99 model designations Mad Dog, would you happen to know what they all stand for?

I have a 99C and a 99E (for now...lol) and I'm curious what the differences are between them and say the "R" series?

To hard to just play with 3 different models. There were over 30 different Savage lever action variations.

A C would be a mag fed rifle unless it was an early C which would have been a rotary mag with a 22" barrel back in 1922 or the 1899C which had a 26" 1/2 round 1/2 oct barrel back in the early 1900's.

Are you seeing where I'm going with this?

I prefer the R's myself cause they're a nice heavy gun that eats up more recoil than the lighter EG's and such.
