Hey guys, what would a savage 99 in 358 win with pistol grip and checkered stock,be worth in good + condition around 70%.
Also what year would it have been made,ser#777###
thanks for your help.

Sounds likean EG DOM 1956. Should be factory drilled and tapped, it is right around the transition time, easiest way to tell if the drilling and tapping is factory is the Model 99 will be on the side of the receiver ring. At 70% that would not be considered good condition for a collector, but it is fine for hunting. Condition is key to price, but caliber will also push it up. This is one of those caliber's, 358, 243, all get a slight premium. So bottom line, it is really hard to put a price on it not seeing it. What would you pay for a 358 hunting rig, and you should be able to answer your own question. It is not going to be a collector, but will hold it's value and maybe slightly appreciate if taken care of .

There are 35 nuts that will pay a bit more just to have one. As a hunter (not collector quality) fully functioning with no issues I'm guessing around $550 - around 100 to 150 more than a 308 chambering. Maybe less if 70% means cracked stocks, crap repairs, rust pitting etc.etc - not just honest wear like dents and blueing rubbed off.
Twice in the past fifteen years I've been offered a factory Savage 99 in 358 at around the 425 to 450 price in very good condition at two different gunshops. I didn't buy either because I couldn't spare the coin then. But the point I'm making is that they don't surface for sale too often.

Just my thoughts since U wanted opinions.

I'm thinking with a serial number like that that guns guns been rebarreled to 358.

The serial number dates it to 1955, Savage never offered the 358 till 1956, hence.....a rebarrel.
