Hoping someone can help me out with info regarding the model of the gun as well as the year of manufacture. It has a serial #596023, checkered stock with a pistol grip and scnabel forend. Thanks for any help.
MadDog, I apologize for my ignorance but what does a 23C or 24B mean. I am new to the 99 world as this is the first I have owned. I knew about the EG models etc. but the 23C and 24B are new to me
Hey Brian, check out this site it has all kinds of info on the 99, and has a page where you can enter the serial# and gives you the date of manufacture. My great-grandfather used to own one that my dad has now which dates to 1914--still looks and shoots great. I'd like to get a 99 myself. http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm
That website's only good up to 1949 or 500,000 and I've come across a few mistakes on it and pointed them out to Ken but he got kind of miffed at me for it.
My data goe's right to 2002.
I'll have a couple 99's up for sale soon, a 99F pre-mil in 308 and a 99EG in 300. Just not ready to post them yet.
MadDog,
I've been searching for a particular 99, I believe it's the 99C, it has a detachable box mag instead of the rotary mag. Do you know if these are hard to come by, and where I might look for one?
