Hey you guys, wondering of there are any Savage 99 gurus out there who can help me out on identifying my latest acquisition. It's a .308, tang safety, with a "9T" on the lever boss which puts it manufactured in 1966 (from what I've found online). The issue I have, is that on the left side of the receiver it says "Savage Model 99M" and then stamped below it is a "D", which would make this a take-down model, which I'm fairly certain it isn't... It's quite accurate, and it kicks like mule on the bench. Any ideas?

Fairly certain?...or absolutely certain?

My book does not show the "M" as a model. The serial number and text on the barrel are better ways to narrow down the model.

44Bore, you hit the nail on the head. I did some more digging, and it appears that mine is a DL. The "M" on the receiver apparently might mean "Monte Carlo stock". But anyways, thanks for your help, I love finding out info about old guns, there's so much neat history out there.
