Had a guy drop off a model 99 for us to refinish. I'm not sure what variation it is but the safety is down under the receiver and locks the lever. 300 Savage caliber.
Here is what I need help with.
There is a pin or screw at the front of the receiver that has a W stamped in it on the left side and is beat to hell on the right side of the receiver.
It doesn't look factory to me and with one end being beat to pieces I can't tell if it's a pin or some type of screw. Here is a pic of the left side..unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the right side.

My book of exploded diagrams calls it a pin.

If you're meaning the one above the catridge counter, it is a screw that goes right through the action as seen from the other side. It holds the tensions on the spring for the rotor. The side you have pictured should be slotted for a skrewdrive, the other side with the threads. What you are saying then is the threaded end of the skrew is mangled? If so, I wonder if the surface of it could be polished so it will clear the rest of the threads upon removal.
Best of luck getting it out!

Normaly its screwed in from the side you show in the photo. From what you describe I would say a smaller , slightly longer screw has been shoved threw and peened over.
