So I stumbled upon this today...

Savage 99 Takedown in .250-3000 Savage and a .410 Barrel with its original case.

Seems to be in good condition over all; wood is very good with no cracks, both bores are clean and shiny.

What's it worth? Planning on putting it in the EE.

The rifle looks to be all original and untouched other than the Marbles tang sight is missing a screw.

There is a few spots with some old 'patina'/corrosion but I wouldn't consider it bad for a 100 year old rifle...but I'm no expert.

I paid pretty good money for it as I have never seen another.

If? There is a 3 dig number on .410 barrel that match's rifle then sold and ordered as a set . The .410 barrels mostly were sold separately , were not repeat fire , single shot only . Pm me for more info if u wish . Ghh

Is there a reference to Niedner on .410 Barrel or sleeve for same?

Did a quick google and it seems to be a gunsmith job by above. Apparently quite rare and valuable.

Not worth much. I will take it off your hands for a fiver! Ok. So I just about crapped a chicken when I saw this. Would love to have something like that. No idea on price, but I would hazard that it would be over $1000 for sure. Not a common find at all.

A couple of years back I saw a similar setup to yours at a gun show. . I believe the rifle caliber was 300 sav. or 250 sav. with the second barrel 410. . It was all in an older hard case. . The rifle bore was worn but still very shootable and the stock was decent. . if memory is correct, the asking price was around $600 and was still there at the end of the show. .

I believe the price reflected condition. . In excellent condition i don't doubt the price would have been higher and the outfit would have sold??

Some guys don't know what they're passing up at times, a like new 99 for $200 might not sell if it isn't 308win or some common cal

I've been hunting......

Nice gun, might be the original case you found it in but not a factory original case. A factory case would have been a hard case with a Savage label and the case would have been made by Winship.

The 410 barrel looks legit from what I can see of it, these are single shot barrels of course, you can't make a repeater out of the 99.

Good call on the tang sight, looks like it's missing half it's guts, pretty much just a parts sight.

The 99 is a 99G T/D, probably the most common of the take downs but it does still have some good finish to it.

$800-$900 as it sits, could probably make more if you sold the barrel separately. Would be worth a lot more if it was a factory cased set but it's not. Actually saw a cased set sit at $800 on a Canadian website for 6 months before it sold, surprised the heck out of me.
