hey guys I have a 99 in the shop
the guy dug a stuck case out of the chamber and gouged the chamber
it is a 250-3000 does anybody know were i might find a barrel
I don't think this one is salvagable

Cam,

Fitting barrels to a 99 Savage is a very tedious job, as you probably know.

Why not rechamber it to 250-3000 Ackley Imp? Replace the rotor with one designed for 300 savage or 308 Win and it's ready to go. 8)

Hi Ted,
I don't think that will clean up the chamber enough for the gouge

I was thinking 257 roberts as the guy does not reload

OK, I polished out the burrs as good as I could
took it out and shot it and it seems to function fine :)
He doesn't reload anyways

I see what you mean Ted and the good thing about the improved is he could still use factory ammo :D

Yes, and it really is a great cartridge when handloaded. I have had three over the past 40 years, one Savage 99 and two bolt actions. The Savage got 3100 fps and the bolt rifles over 3200 with 100 gr partitions using 4350. Doug has the little Sako and is pretty pleased with it.

Gabby, a new member here, is looking for a Savage 99 right now to build a 250 Imp for his wife if anyone knows where there is a good one.
