Sorry folks my mistake it's not a C It's an F.
A friend of my Dad's dropped off a box full of a 99F in .308 in pieces. 1967 vintage.
I'm having trouble getting the trigger/trigger spring back in. When I install trigger spring using Numrich schematic for reference, spring doesn't have any tension on it. whether lever is closed or open. Also, safety will not engage unless trigger is pushed forward. Obviously something is fubared.
Safety slide does not appear to be bent or otherwise damaged.
Yes, I should have declined to put it back together not knowing enough about this rifle. I have worked on a couple of the older 99's and they were pretty straight forward, so I thought I could help the old fella out.
I have failed using google fu for a solution and so here I am, asking for any help CGN members can provide.
A photo of installed trigger spring would be helpful or any constructive advice/experience.
