I had an A22 which I believe has the same trigger assy. Even with the Savage 'Varmint main T-spring' I could only get down to ca 2#+. My other complaint was the 're-set' was only activated as you released the trigger and made a Very Loud "CLUNK" which was transmitted thru the Hollow stock. Some people stuffed it with rags, styro, etc. The rifle was fairly accurate for a cheap semi, but you may not see that with a .17. I'd advise getting a bolt action if you're set on .17, but a .223 will cost about as much for a 'low-cost' rifle and ammo is nearly the same $$. Then you could 'really reach out', more accurately and with more power.
