so I'm not a big rimfire guy but I recently was given a Savage A17 along with about 1000rds and 2 rotary 10rd mags

I took it apart and needed to fix the stock as it was broken between the trigger and mag well

I am certainly not impressed with the stock, its a grey laminate and the fit and finish are woefully lacking and in the future it will need bedding, but for now I will just use as is.

so what are the opinions on these rifles, what can I expect for accuracy at 100m

I haven't fired one, but I've held a few. Couldn't reconcile what I was holding with the price tag it was wearing. The 17M2 version (A17 HM2) holds some appeal even for just the weirdness factor. Not a model I see Savage making for long, could be a collector one day WAY down the road. If we're still gun owners. Greasy Liberals get their way, we'll be sharpening sticks by then.

had it out on the range to sight in the cheap 6x scope.

I hate the thumbhole stock, I would prefer a traditional stock, or some sort of stock with a proper pistol grip.

Mags, rotary 10 round, reliable jam if loaded with 10 rounds, the first 2-3 rounds are almost always guaranteed to jam or not feed.

accuracy was acceptable, and will shot 1" groups from a bag

so far not impressed with this rifle
