Savage A22 .22LR magazine problems

Bought a Savage A22 that came with 10 rounds rotary magazine and 25 rounds magazine. Took it to the range and rifle is great but I experienced problems with my 10 round mag, while 25 rounder works flawlessly I am experiencing FTF every time I am trying to shoot with 10 round mag, some times it can happen 2 times per magazine. Did anyone had the same problem or is it just me?

I just recently picked up a new B22 G (bolt action version) and it came with the 10 round rotary magazine (uses the same one as your A22). It's the only one I currently have (no one seems to have stock on them) and I have had no issues with it so far. It's fed everything I've put into it. Might be a slight difference between bolt and semi, but magazines are identical.

It maybe an ammo issue. Watched a video of a guy using CCI A17 ammo and he was having lots of problems. No issues when he used Hornady. I have a lever action Henry and was told to try different types until you found something that fed reliably.
Being a semi, try the fastest bullets available , it might just need that little extra push to cycle a round.

I’ve had the opposite problem with a B22 bolt. The rotary mags feed slick as snot and those damned butler creek ones are stiff to feed and will not feed at all with 20+ rounds in them, unless perhaps I was to take a mallet to the bolt handle.

I’ve several of each and all behave alike.

I have used mini mags 36gr HP and 40gr ones, so I think it has enough speed to cycle it properly, plus butler creek mag is working perfectly and I didn’t had 1 malfunction with it through 500 rounds. I’ll still try to use different ammo but I found posts on some US forum where someone had the same problem and it resolved when savage sent him a new mag, so maybe magazine is just defective.

Update: Just got a free replacement mag from Savage, it took them like 3.5 weeks to respond to my email but after that in 2 weeks I got my new magazine. Magazine that they sent to me works great and I haven’t experienced any malfunctions with it. Spring in the mag that was not working properly was A LOT stiffer than in the replacement one.
