So, i just picked up a Savage 116 fcss in 7mm. I wanted to try a different rifle as i have never shot a savage before. After spending some time researching them on the net, I figured, "what the hell, im about to buy a house so i might as well buy me somethign before i cant spend any more money". So, voila. It shows up in the mail and i take the stock off to adjust the accutrigger down to the min. Now, when i was watching the video of the Accustock on the Savage website, it showed how the recoil lug was tightend against the aluminum bedding block by the use of a wedge, that when tightened, pushes the lug against the block and makes it have zero movement. My accustock doesnt have one of these. Why would they advertise one thing, and then totally scrap the whole idea?? Now im gonna have to send it down to mysticplayer to have bedded without the wife knowing about it. haha.
 
I would be pissed, especially since the video on the savage website depicts the stock as such. That like false advertisement. I'd contact savage
 
I would think that, if it has an Accustock, the literature/manual that comes with the rifle would specify as much. From what I've read, reassembling an Accustock, because of the how the lug is designed, is a tad bit trickier than a conventional set up.

That lug is at the heart of the system. Thinking, too, you've got an older stock.
 
Make sure that you do a twice over on the rifle. I ended up ording and paying for a brand new FCSS in 300 Win Mag with Accutrigger and Accustock, a few months ago from Epps because of all of the good stuff I heard about them being the best gun for the price.

I ended up paying a couple hundred dollars extra and bought a Tikka instead of the Savage because there was some quality control issues with the Savage they had there. The action and barrel would'nt bed into the stock properly and the barrel was offset, and actually touching the synthetic stock, so it was'nt even free floating.

Im not trying to rain on your parade, but I just thought I would share my story so you could be aware that some rifles do come from the factory with some quality control issues, like many other manufacturers do also. I don't want to even start talking about Remington 870's
 
I've owned a few Savages and only one has shot accurately and that's a Weather Warrior 300WSM. The other two went to someone who swore by the Savage name and reputation for accuracy. They are not my first choice, but all lefties have their challenges when looking for a left hand action bolts. Savage is one of a few companies who readily make them. Tikka and Brownings are the others.
 
The accustock is easy to tell as it has a very evident aluminum rail inside. The wedge is on the front screw on the recoil lug. I just got one yesterday on a long range hunter in 6.5x284.Comes with instructions for assembly with torque figures. 40 lbs

A firearm that has the new Accustock will have a large sticker on the bottom of the stock that reads "Savage Accustock," and the box will be stamped "New 2009" on the outside. These new models will also have a total of four screws on the bottom of the stock (the rear trigger gd. screw, the front and rear action screws, and the "wedge" screw on the forend) If you are having trouble determining whether or not you have an Accustock, please call customer service at (413) 568-7001 with the serial number of the gun.

Just got my 116 FCSS 30.06 Accustock

Veiw of the bottom...rear receiver screw is under bolt release ...front receiver screw is by mag release latch.The accustock wedge screw is in the hole in the stock.
