I recently purchased a used Savage Model 12 FV .223 from a fellow gun nutz member (not naming names) and the trigger is messed up...
It locks up...
Has light strikes...Failure to fire
And is completely unreliable...
Have used many different types of ammo

It's a 1/2 MOA gun when it fires but....
Looks like somebody had tried to "make it better"

My question is, does anybody know where to get a "Factory Accutrigger" from?
I went to the Savage Arms website and the serial # on the barrel isn't recognized by the website...?
And I haven't been able to source one looking around the Internet...

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

Chris

I assume you cleaned the bolt thoroughly and pull the trigger straight back.. they can be an acquired taste

The serial # is not on the barrel, it is on the action. I personally don't like the accutrigger so I changed all of mine out for the Rifle Basix Sav-2 triggers which is a very nice trigger.

I had light strikes and failures to fire on a brand new Savage 12 sprayed the bolt with some cleaner and made sure I pulled the trigger properly never had a problem since

Willing to bet the primer protrution has been messed with. Tear down the bolt and have a look in there, clean it up and check protrution. They're really simple don't be scared if you've never had it apart. The locked up trigger if it's a top bolt release will likely be caused by the trigger being set to light. Just give the spring a turn or turn and a half harder. When you get good with a savage we're talking about 10 minutes work there.

If you haven't had the bolt apart. You'll want to un-#### the pin before starting. It takes all the pressure off the big allen bolt at the back of the actual bolt. And when you have it apart check that the big cross pin that holds the bolt head on is spun so that the firing pin doesn't rub as it goes through. Just hold up to a light and rotate the crosspin...you'll see

I have a Savage Palma that had a terrible trigger with the same issues .
Took it out and put in a Timney and .... DONE!
fixed the light trigger strikes and misfires completely

I ended up getting ahold of Savage Arms on the phone.
They had the replacement parts and it only cost $50 USD
