For those of you who love your AccuTriggers but wish you could reduce the pull weight down below the factory minimum of about 2.5-3.0 pounds, there is an easy solution (and please let's not start a "Why I Hate Savage AccuTriggers" discussion here)...

I could only get the pull weight on my AccuTrigger down to about 2.75 pounds. I didn't want to replace the entire trigger, nor did I want to monkey with modifying the factory trigger spring. Savage makes a "target AccuTrigger" spring (Part# 105270) that was supposed to solve the problem, so I decide to try and track one down.

Western Gun Parts did not stock the part (nor were they even aware of its existence), but I did manage to locate them at the Gun Shack in Texas. Unfortunately, Gun Shack will not ship to Canada, so I went the route of having them (I bought a few extras) legitimately exported from the US via Borderview International, who were great to deal with.

Long story short... Out with the factory AccuTrigger spring and in with the target spring and my pull weight is now a lovely 1.5 pounds - just what I was aiming for. :)

Picture below shows stock centre-fire spring on the left and target spring on the right. Wire gauge is about the same (.0275 inch), but target spring wire is less stiff.

Just thought some of you Savage AccuTrigger owners and lovers might be interested.

Did you try contacting Savage in Westfield, Massivetwo####z? They are pretty good about stuff like that, maybe just send you a spring like they did with Extractor/Ejector parts for me.

redshooter... I had read that these springs would not be sold by Savage unless you owned a rifle that already had them as stock. Foolishly I trusted what I read and went an alternate (and more expensive) route.

Mark-II... Yup, I am pretty sure the 12 series will already be using the target spring.
 
Looks like the 1.5 pound spring I installed (105270) is actually called the Varmint/LE spring (even though Gun Shack advertised it as the Target spring). SavageShooters indicates that the actual Target spring goes down to 6 ounces!

Nevertheless, i am really liking the "target" spring and the resulting 1.5 pound trigger pull. :)
 
My daughter has an early 10BA that has the .6 ounce spring. It's pretty amazing being so light and yet totally safe. I purchased a 10TR a few years ago and was dissappointed that it came with a 2.5 Lb spring. Doing some research, I was able to obtain the 1.5 pound spring directly from Savage, easy to swap out and it gave the gun a new lease on life. I honestly don't recall whether or not there was a cost, and don't know if they still do that, but it might be worth asking if anyone is interested in doing this mod. One key thing to know is that you can't put the .6 ounce spring in a rifle that is not designed for it without also changing the seer, and possibly other parts or work might be required.

Glad to hear you could get the spring from Savage. I was unsuccessful so I went the more expensive import route, but the $30/spring price I paid was well worth it! :)
 
Princess auto has generic spring pack with a spring that fits perfectly and will take it down to 2lbs. It’s just a big bag of springs and also has the perfect spring for the Ruger lc6 trigger
