I'm looking for info on reducing the trigger pull on the factory accutrigger on my savage 116 . I have it set as low as I can with the factory spring . I would like to know if there is an aftermarket spring available . I'm looking for 1.5 to 2 lbs setting and keep the accutrigger . Shooter supply informed me they no longer carry this item . any thoughts ?? thanks for your info and time .

I've got a couple Savages one has the target accutrigger, a model 12 and the other a 16 like yours. The target trigger goes down to 2 lbs but the normal one only 3 or so which is fine for me on a hunting rifle so I haven't looked too hard but the only way to go lower that I've heard of is an aftermarket trigger. I think that Jerry at Mystic Precision sells one (Rifle Basics maybe?) and is otherwise a good resource for customising Savages. That's all I got maybe someone here knows more..

I had/have two savages with the Accutrigger: a 2010 MK II BTVS rimfire. The instructions say that the Accutrigger can be adjusted down to 2.5 lbs. The trigger is excellent on this particular rifle. I also had a 10 BA (308) "Law Enforcement Series". The instructions say that this Accutrigger can be adjusted from 1.5 - 6 lbs. I wouldn't know how well that trigger performed because every time I loaded the rifle, the lawyer approved safety feature would render the trigger useless. I could not find a fix and sold the POS.

I cut 2 coils off of the little spring you adjust and bend it to fit back in with a needle nose pliers. I find it takes off just enough weight without affecting anything else. I have 4 savages and done that to them all.

That's one thing about them if you don't press the trigger straight back but on an angle the blade will bind it won't let off. Part of the "safety feature" as they call it your translation is more accurate tho. I never have a problem with it shooting though as I don't tend to pull to one side or the other.

Something was messed up there I'm thinking Kurgan. I have/have had a model 12, model 16, model 11 and a mk11 rimfire. The only one that would lock up more than I thought it should was the mk 11 once in a while.

I actually cut a coil and a half off mine and never had a problem with it. I did shim the sear pin too, but even before I did it worked great.

I have a 116 too and never had an issue with it either.

Someone posted a long while back that if you press the trigger anything but straight back it would lock up so I tried mine.

I had to push mine so hard for it to do it I thought I was going to bend something. It would never happen even through extreme abuse.

I just got good ones I guess.

Yeah there's a blurb somewhere in the manuals about needing to pull the trigger straight in line with its travel and that its part of the system guarding from accidental discharge. Kurgan isn't the only guy I've heard that's had problems. I suspect some leave the factory with issues.
