I would like to know what is the difference between savage model 10 , 11 and steven 200 action? if their is one ? Because I would like to build a rifle on one of these action, just want to know if one is better then the others.
Thank you

Thats what Im doing! Stevens 200 with a Boyds thumbhole, Shilen Barrel, and havent decided which trigger to go with yet. Right now Im just using the stock trigger and it can be adjusted to around 3-4 pounds and isnt terrible.

Use the Stevens 200 for a donor action I have built many of them from scratch, even a 338 Lapua, starting with a Stevens 200 action.

TRIGGGERS

That is pretty much it.

I have had some very nicely finished Stevens with a gloss blue and I have had the matte. Stevens are overruns of Savages and just get assembled to make parts go away.

Some are purdy, others functional - either way, same moving parts.

If you only want a 2lbs trigger for a varminter or hunting or LR plinker, the accutrigger is very nice. I use it on my 223 tactical and hunting rifles.

If you want lighter, then the Timney is superb and down to around 1.5lbs. At which point, start with a Stevens/package rifle

From here you can go lighter.

If you are going to dump the factory trigger, start with a Stevens or Savage package rifle (same rifle but come with the wonderful center feed det mag).

Otherwise, start with a Savage in a stock configuration as close to what you want as possible. Stocks are a royal PITA to get for the new gen actions.

Savage rifles are modular and all the variants are simply different parts spun onto the same action - CM or SS.

That's it.

I am waiting for the new Edge to come out. These look like a slight variation on the theme and hopefully, the parts will interchange because if you think the Stevens was cheap - you ain't seen nothing yet.

I just bought a Stevens 200 with a Shilen Bull Barrel. I didn't realise how expensive the Shilen barrels were until I picked up my rifle and found out the seller paid $500 for it from Mystic Player. Mine has a Timney trigger, from what I have been reading that's the way to go with the trigger on a Stevens. I am far from an expert on this as I haven't even shot my new toy yet. :p

I saw the new edge from savage on le baron web site they are cheaper then steven. But is it the same action? and can it be modify like the savage or steven?
I they are 319.63$. But are they good?

This is based on the manufacturing date but yes there are different size shanks on the barrels. Mystic player can tell you the details, but it doesnt matter until your ready to order your barrel.
Not on manufacture date alone...short magnums and LRPV = Large shank, all others SHOULD be small but I have heard that there are exceptions. More to worry about is is action screw spacing as well as mag type for when you buy your stock. If you go with a stevens and aren't after a bench rest ligth trigger, order a 3 screw trigger from sss. It is a descent trigger for 20$. I've done quite a few rebbls on stevens actions. Always been please with the results.

Stevens 200 can be had new for 300$, I just bought 2 of em last week. I need a staggered action though. These new ones are hard to find stocks for.

What caliber? Inquiring minds need to know.

LOL...It's a stevens 200 in 270 win stagger feed. It has a 26" shilen bull barrel with a 1/10 twist rate, bushnell legend 5x15-40, timney trigger, harris 6-9 bipod, a score hi br single shot follower, cheek rest/gear pouch. The forearm has also been stiffened up....

I actually bought it for hunting but with today's quality .270 ammo I figured I can do some precision shooting with it. :p

With that shilen barrel and timney trigger it should shoot pretty good. :)

I just finished inletting and painting the stock on my stevens today to accept a Shilen Bull barrel (223). I have a timney in that one too.

Good luck and don't forget to give a range report.

Anyone know of a relatively inexpensive stock for my old savage? One thing I really want though, is a pistol grip. They're so much more comfortable to me!

Can Mystic get stocks in for savages? I want to send him my old rifle for a new barrel, new stock and some action work. Bit later in the summer though, just looking around right now.

I hear yea. I've got thick hands and find it hard to find a stock that allows the pad of my finger to naturally sit on the trigger. I even got the laminate thumb hole from Richard's but the grip is still to far from the trigger.
