Everything on the rifle worked exactly as it should. The rifle fed and ejected perfectly. Recoil was stiff, but not unpleasant from the bench. That big soft recoil pad really works well. At 50 yards, with iron sights, I shot a 5 shot group with 4 touching in a ragged cluster, the 5th shot was 3/8" out. I'll post pictures if I figure out how. I couldn't be happier! Some say Savage rifles are accurate junk. Maybe so, but excellent is as excellent does, and the price was $619.00 plus tax and shipping from Cabellas. The Accutrigger in my rifle is a thing of beauty.

I'm sticking with irons, at least for now. I'm out hunting this Saturday, and won't have time to get a scope going. It's printing 3 inches high at 50 yards. That should allow me to hold under my target out to 250+ yards. For me, holding under is the way to go. I can see buying another of these rifles, and putting a scope on the second one.

here it is got it today! put a few rounds down range for a synthetic recoil was mild... noise however was another thing from 18" 338 win mag!

Any pictures of groups at 100 yards? I'm interested in one of these too, but would like to know what kind of accuracy to expect. Just want to figure out if it's worth scoping or leaving it the way it is.

I ordered a mount for it when it arrives I will throw either a 2x-7x on it or maybe even try a red dot...

I will try shooting some 100 yard targets then. I also ordered a whack of various brands of ammo coming canpar so I have to wait.

Today I was just shooting some Hornady ammo to test function.> So far so good I pulled the trigger it went BANG actually, it went BOOM. HeHe

I too would be interested in seeing if the OP has some target to compare.

I got a Weaver (savage 110 long action) picatinny one piece rail. I put a Leupold VX-II fixed 4x scope in Leupold QRW low rings so I can still take off and use sights if I like.

Ammo shipment has arrived too this week so I will try to get out and shoot this thing on the weekend for sure.

I got a couple of 200gr Winchester brands... 225 and 250gr Remington brands, some Hornady SST and Barnes TSX ammo as well.

Cool. I'm going for QRWs too. Does the tall rear iron sight block/obscure too much light to the scope with the low rings? Would be interested in chronograph speeds from the short barrel. Cheers!
