savage American Classic, anyone??

The pictures look nice.

After working with my first Savage this fall, and seeing how accurate the darn things can be , I am seriously considering buying one of these "classics" next spring.

You sure do have to stop buying Rems.
Didn't you know that since Canada are 4% of Remington's sales that(and I quote) they "don't care what happens to it".
This was from a major executive at Remington.
Nice to think Remington's customer service is consistent.

I can tell you I stole a 114U in 270 for my dad earlier this year,(got it good and cheap)
and he ABSOLUTELY loves it. The stock is very very nicely colored and figured, but very very glossy.
Its a classy looking gun that shoot as good as it looks with 130 gr SST's over 53 gr's of 4350, and its light. 489 from wholesale?. lets just say I beat it NIB (not in the box, NIB) by a long shot.
Its much nicer than an SPS

(Edited because Why Not can read better than i can type)

Savage rifles are just plain ugly.... huge freaking barrel nut looks like they were put on with a pipe wrench. If you put a pink dress on a pig...it is still just a pig with a pink dress. And what is with the cut barrels... how about some new technology... lets step into the 50's at least with some hammer forging! And that Accutrigger.... if I want a gadget I'll buy some vise grips!
The only thing good about this rifle is they offer it in Short Mags.

OK, you can have that one, but for under 500 bucks, you get a nice piece of wood. Not Tupperware:p

Now Why would savage want to do that? one needs some competition in the world you know. Those old cut barrels still outshoot those cold hammer forged 50's technology out of the box, and do it for less money.
So why put all of your competition out of business  buy retooling? If it aint broke...

Need I say more? Buddy, Im buying you a Tikka Man suit for christmas

I'll give you a Tikka trigger is a better trigger, but for the money, I can add a rifle Basics trigger, and still outshoot a T3:cool:

OK, here we go...

I think your Momma forgot to tighten the strap on your helmet Darryl and you hit your head on the drool board... out shoot a Tikka... that'll be the day.:p
Yeah you can spend 150 bucks on a trigger for a Savage and you can get the barrel hand lapped by a good gunsmith for another 100 bucks. When your all done... it is still a pig in a pink dress:D
I think the Stevens 200 is a much better rifle... it is good value and they make no bones about it being anything but a good and plain working rifle... and don't try to make it something it isn't;)

I smell the 277 shootout between the stock Savage, and the worked Tikka.
I got 20 bucks on the Savage...

And I'll even shoot those ####ty SST's:p

Gotta admit one thing....

At least they left the plastic where it belongs...CD cases and pop bottles.

Tikka on the other hand.... only thing that is not plastic is the barrel (and the sloppy dovetailed bolt handle).

Actually sad to admit that I would buy a Savage before a new Tikka.....and I bet the average savage will shoot AT LEAST as well!

It figures you would side with DB on this one 280:( ... I think you both went to school on the small bus...:p
You boys should be ashamed of yourselves... ganging up on an old guy in his reclining years;)

Savage all the way, they are incredibly accurate. As for Tikka, I have heard good things as well, but the Accutrigger itself is the deal breaker for me,

You are still mis-informed BIGREDD. Savage uses Button Pulled barrels, the same method as Lilja, Hart etc. And as far as cut rifling goes, tell Krieger to "step into the 50's at least" and buy a hammer forging machine :D
