Hey guys, I have been drawing some barrel nut for the Savage and Remington. Both models will use the standard barrel nut wrench I sell. They will be great for switch barrel Remmy or replacement for Savage build.

It would be awesome to get some feedback on what model and material (Stainless or Chrome Moly) I should be making. I will run a first batch of 20-30 pieces.

Still not sure on the price, but I would like to keep them around $45.

I am interested, especially since I would like to replace the smooth nut on one of my Savage. I would love the stainless, even though the existing barrel isn't. The plan is to get a nice 1" or so 243 to swap.

You are right next to LTVFG, I've seen your advert on Range 2, so it will be an easy chance to pick-up the gear.

You would not want to put two dissimilar metals together, as you will set up electrolysis , stick with Chrome Moly!

220 you're right, there is potential for electrolytic action/galvanic corrosion. For that to happen you need a corrosive environment.

So if the intended purpose of this rifle is to be in a boat off the west coast then don't do it. If good cleaning and minimal exposure to the environment (target shooting) then it should not be an issue.

Not only in corrosive conditions not to mention stainless has tendencies to gall threads as well as work harden under pressure or
even loose strength under cold temps but each to his.

Did not want to get into metal properties here.

Galling is more prone on Stainless but is possible with all type of metals, dissimilar or same type. The best prevention as suggested is antiseize/lubrication to reduce friction between the 2 surfaces.

So far I still don't have an idea if I should get more Savage or Remington style, in stainless or CM.

Just a quick update. The nuts are here. I don't like the finish on the Chrome Moly ones so I will fix that before sending them out.

The Stainless ones are good to go.
