has anyone else watched the 30 second video clip posted up on the savage Arms home page? w ww.savagearms.com
It features the team savage captain, Stan Pate shooting a Savage model 12 Palma rile. Topped with a Nightforce that makes me drool.

I have a question to anyone who may know, what kind (manufacturer) of base is that sitting on top of that rifle? I know it is most likely a 20 MOA canted base, but I was looking for a manufacturer. I have an idea but I was hoping someone could provide some clarity.

Looks like it could be a Farrell base.

I shot with Stan last year at the BC provincials on the first day. Great guy to shoot with, as is the rest of Team Savage.

I don't recall noticing what base he was using at the time.

Here's a pic of one of my Farrell bases. I have 5 of them and expect to get another in the near future.

Thats kindof what I was thinking it was. I need a Pic. Rail one peice base for my savage but I need to find one that does not project beyond the recoil lug in front of the action. I intend on using this as a switch barrel rifle and would appreciate not having to remove the base to get the nut wrench on, having to remove the scope is bad enough.

You got to shoot with the savage team at the BC provincials?!! WOW I need to get out to some of those high end comps to watch at the very least, until I get my rig up and running.

Yeah, I got squadded with Stan for the first day of my first ever provincials.

I will see if my Savage bases run over the nut area.

Richard, what is the scope and rings in the pic ?

NF 12-42x56 BR with Burris Extreme Tactical rings.

EDIT:

Looks like only the XR Bases hang over the action:

I got in touch with stan and asked the ? and this is his reply

QUOTE
The base on the rifle in the commercial was a 30 MOA Ferrel scope base. I didn't have to shim the rear of the scope base for the distance because of the elevation that I was taking the shots at. My rifle had a good 1,000 yard zero on it for 340' elevation on my home range and where we shot the commercial was almost exactly 7,000 feet, the hold over was only 29 minutes from my 100 yard zero. I hope that fully answers the question.

Welcome to the sickness......aint it great?

Yes it is, but unfortunately my wife doesnt share the same thoughts

I find it truly amazing that I was able to find such informative and factual information in such a short time frame on this issue. Truly what I enjoy most about this site, many informed users with vast amounts of knowledge that arent afraid to share their experience, or in this case, ask the man himself; Im very appreciative of everyone's efforts!:dancingbanana:

Once you have enough guns in the safe they all look the same to the wife which means you can now start building/buying as many as you want. If they ask "Is that new?" you can reply with "What? This old thing....had it for ages I just haven't had it out much."

(Don't let my wife read this)

:D
