so i have this savage axis 223 sitting in the safe for a couple years now never shot it only bought because it was a good price is worth using it to build somthing out of it ?

pry bar door stop or just go shoot it and have some fun ... fool with it get the trigger pull down mabe buy a boyds stock .. lots of stuff you could do with her .. ps the pry bar and door stops were jokes ...

I've owned a couple over the years. I would just shoot it as is and not bother putting any money into it. They are accurate as is. If you wanted to go the boyds stock route, I can't see it going wrong. But anymore than that and I think it's wasting money.

I bought one of the combos in .223 three years ago that came with the crappy bushnell scope. Just wanted to have a cheap .223 toi carry on my back on snowmobile in-country. Turns out it shoots pretty well. Have shot steel hostage targets shot out to 600m with it for ####s & giggles. Mind you I replaced the two piece mounts with a one piece EGW mount and upgraded the scope. Would I build on it: no. Does it shoot well enough for a brush / truck gun? You bet!
