Bought a 22-250 savage axis package from Cabelas with the POS 3-9 Bushnell scope on it. Wondering what group size at 100 yards anyone is getting with this combo? I cant get any better than 2.5" groups shooting prone.

Once I did some work inside the grip to stiffen it up and also inside the forestock. things got a whole lot better. Like you the rifle was in the 1 and a 1/2 inch shooter. With it being slightly modded it became an incher . I then went with a different cheap 3-9 in the bushnell line and am in the steady 3/4-1 inch with 190 grain Bergers. So a little tweaking still keeps the rifle a light weight cost friendly hunting or plinking rifle.

My old mans 22-250 axis shoots sub moa. It's like a laser beam pushing 75g bullet to about 3700fps. It's all stock nothing done to it besides running hand loads. I don't like the trigger personally but it's a killer. Longest shoot on a coyote so far was about just under 500yards.

I have been pondering a new axis with the acutrigger in .243 as a spare rifle and varmint rig for the wife to shoot. The scopes suck there more for a rim fire gun. And the old man swapped his out for a much better scope. At 100 yards it is about 1/2-3/4" groups cloverleaf style.

Mine is a tack driver. I had a large stock of Winchester bulk packs and so far haven't reloaded for it but groups under an inch isn't surprising. I adjusted the trigger to make it much more acceptable. Still isn't where I'd consider it "easy to shoot". I just haven't gotten around to finding a better 22-250 yet. I'm not a fan of having to concentrate on the trigger when aiming.

We have 3 axis combo's, we left the scope that came with it on one, it shoots 1.5'' at 100 yards but the scope is not great, cross-hairs are thick and clarity poor. I have a feeling optics limit that rifle. With decent scopes the other 2 shoot under 1'' groups at 100 yards fairly consistently. Pretty accurate guns for $250. I did adjust the triggers which helps a lot in shooting better groups, the triggers were super heavy initially. You may want to try tightening up the bases/ rings too, i found they all came loose which would wreck groups.

How well do you shoot your other rifles prone? The scope that came on mine was fine. I have it on a savage 10 now. Works well enough for hunting.

The axis is notorious for its heavy trigger and cheap stock. You might have your barrel contacting the stock. A new stock well help a lot, but you can get the current one to function better if you heavily inlet around the barrel and bed the recoil lug.
