Savage axis firing pin spring

I’d be very careful with these triggers.

I had to get work done on a brand new trigger.
If you racked the bolt with the safety on
Then if you touched the trigger ( not squeeze on it)
Then take the safety off
The firing pin went off

Be aware

I’m wondering if anyone knows how thick the washer is that goes between the 2 part firing pin spring in a savage axis? Would it affect firing pins protrusion?
I take it you have the the current 3 piece spring design and not the early one piece firing pin spring where I gather the previous poster, remyltr, might have had issues with and was replaced with the 3 piece spring design. The new design was meant to solve binding issues when rotating the bolt handle.
The thickness of that washer between the two springs shouldn’t affect firing pin protrusion.
Can’t say what the thickness of that washer is, but I have past notes that the firing pin should protrude by .035”. You can make your own washer (brass) and make it an exact fit to the firing pin diameter.

Edited to add that the washer provides a better load bearing surface. If you wish to change the firing protrusion, you’d have to file or shim.

I was thinking I would get or make a brass washer, the original went missing after disassembling and I don’t want to leave it out. It’s firing fine in this weather, but has failed to fire at 15 below so I need to sort it out(reason I tore it apart). I think that may be a protrusion issue, have to figure out how to measure that.
