Savage axis ii 7.62x39 bore diameter question

Savage uses .308 bore vs the .311 all surplus ammo measures in at. I have found the tighter bore does not help with accuracy of these rounds, it actually does the opposite
 
ok, thanks. how does it work with surplus steel cased ammo? I have read some reports of unreliable extraction.
 
I can't review the savage but the CZ is a beast. Initially it took about 100 rds to break in and some couch time cycling the bolt. Now it's such a nice rifle and shoots anything as happily as my SKS but more accurate. Depends on what kind of ammunition your going to use I suppose. I know many Americans 7.62x39 manufacturers may actually have .308 bullets loaded so have largely stuck with Russian or Czech ammo which seems to shoot well. PRC shot about the same as Norinco non corrosive and I treated it like a SKS to clean it up.
So unless your reloading with what 7.62x39 is avail in Canada I'd recommend you spend the extra couple hundred bucks and buy the CZ. My limited exp with an Axis was at the store and it felt rather flimsy and of inferior materials (mind you I am a milsurp guy I like solid steel)

Actually I have a cz527 but I am not sure I like it very much. I took it to the range a couple of times and found the bolt to be quite sticky (and not smooth at all as other people testify about their's). Maybe I need to put more rounds throw it before it fully breaks in but as of now I am not a happy camper. Also I don't like the detachable mag sticking out too much and the fact that the barrel is not chrome-lined.

Yet it could be the price given the perception of the axis line to be an entry level model. At $700+ this thing appears to be overpriced, but nonetheless it seems to be selling well (I was at Tenda yesterday and asked the girl to show me one and lo and behold - they were out of stock). So I guess a stainless steel bolt action in 7.62x39 has some uniquely appealing qualities even when it appears to be overpriced...
 
I really love shooting my 527. I mean I almost can't get enough of it. I did find cycling a little sticky at first, but quickly realized it was the mag lips holding things up. I could see on the fired casings where they were grabbing. Took the mag down and smoothed the lips with 000 steel wool. Made all the difference. Cycled like butter since.
