Savage Axis II Precision - Anybody Own One? Need Your Feedback.

& Weasel...Do they price match? :p Some LGS do, I think it can be found around $1199 a few places. Either way, Just Enjoy it!

I've heard they do, but I'm not sure about after the purchase. I've gotten deals there before, so I'll probably just let this one go. Barrel broken in and sighted in. It seemed to like 180gr Federal blue box.

On a seperate note, the cheek rest was driving me nuts today. Had to remove some plastic flashing and it was pinching me somehow. Not sure if it was between my hearing protection and the rest or if it was the back of the cheek rest rubbing. If I keep this after hunting, that grip is going to get changed too.

Just an FYI. You might want to loctite the scope base screws. I didn't have a problem breaking in the barrel and getting it zeroed, but here I am in the bush and my scope base is noticeably loose. I'll get it all torqued tonight when I get home, but I'll have to take some time at the range to get verify zero. Hopefully it won't take much.

I own one as well, in 223, and I love it! I generally shoot at 50 and 100 yard targets, that’s as far as we can safely shoot where we like to go on crown land. It’s very accurate! With my closer to 70 than 60 year old eyeballs, I can still shoot 1” groups at 100. I’m using Hornady 80 grain? If I remember correctly

I used a pair at work in .308... they're both dead. That bolt design is totally whack... I got PTSD from all the times I had to fight with that bolt...

Paul Mauser figured out how to make an awesome bolt action, and then savage shows up with this... thing... WTF?

I did land one at auction last year, but in .243 caliber. Came with a bushnell Forge but I replaced it with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical. 1st time out my 3 shoot groups ranged from 0.49 to 0.192” so I was pretty impressed with the accuracy, especially as the loads were for another Savage 243 that I had sold once this one landed. Just waiting for slightly warmer weather to shoot the next 20 reloads to see if I have a “go to round” to compete with this summer.

I have one in .223 with 1-7 twist been shooting 88gr Hornadys over CFE .223 been working excellent Making Hits on steel out to 1000 gets hard after 800 yrds

I own the 223 version and a 22lr version, both in the MDT Oryx chassis. Both of these are very accurate! The build quality is ok. The bolts may be a little sloppier than a Tikka or CZ, but they do what they’re supposed to do…shoot, and they do that well! I’d say my 22 is every bit, if not more accurate than my CZ (CZ is in stock wood stock) and I’ve only compared the 223 with a Tikka 223 lite ss I sold to buy the Savage/MDT precision. I don’t regret it at all!
