Ok, I will admit to it. I sucked it up and bought a savage axis xp strata camo in .223. Normaly , I dont mess around with el cheapo guns but iI had heard from others that they shoot good and I was needing a new coyote killer so what the hell, give it a chance. To say thatt I was impressed is a total understatement !! My first handload cut one ragged little 5 shot group I could cover with a dime !!
The only thing I dont like about the rifle is the magazine. Hard to load and kinda noisy. Is there any aftermarket mags available to replace it with ???

Those Axis mags are the easiest to load I have ever had...just push the round in from the top same as loading with a stripper clip. The feed lips on Axis mags are spring steel, they just open up to accept the cartridge.

I bought one because I wanted a cheap gun that I wouldn’t worry about getting scratched up. I had over 200 brass for 6.5 Creedmore so that’s what I went with. I wasn’t I big fan of the sloppy bolt or the mag but it does work well. I was impressed with its grouping for a cheap gun. The mag I takes a little getting use to, put them in flat and push them in. I did change the rings out and put a rail on as the scope was way too far forward from the factory. The bolt still bugs me,just doesn’t slide like my other guns.
