Savage Axis. New vs older stock?

I’ve got an older Savage Axis in 7.62 x 39 and I was wondering if the new style Axis factory stock would work with the older model Axis? Any one tried?

Send MDT a email. They make chassis style stocks for the axis so they'd know for sure. I've never seen a difference spacing mentioned for the axis when looking at after market stocks so I'd guess they're interchangeable but I'm not certain

I believe only the trigger system was changed, and would probably use the same inletting.

What do you mean by the trigger system was changed? Are you referring to the Axis II w/ the accutrigger? Because those were released before they changed the stocks and the Axis II didn't replace the Axis, both are still available.


As far as I am aware, the Axis from like 8 years ago and the Axis from today are the exact same gun other than the stock, but I have not tried what you are suggesting, I only have the old style.

You’re right, as far as I understand they are the same (aside from accutrigger). I don’t see why you couldn’t put the old savage into the new style stock. I would be surprised if it didn’t work.

I had both old and new models and swaped the stocks, no issues.
