Anyone aware of any new axis stocks on the horizon?, I know of one custom manufacturer in Quebec but would rather a nice synthetic as opposed to a "cheap" looking laminate.

Well that's less than useless, seeing how many have sold someone is bound to jump on that grenade! Does anyone have any useful information, or just more fluff?

Here is some useful info....with an attitude like that, you wont be getting any useful info out of anyone here. 762shooter gave you an honest answer. There are no stock options out there for the Axis and I would be suprised if there ever is

the problem with the axis, is there is no bottom metal on it
and nobody makes any
usualy peoples who buy this low end rifles is because they dont have the budget to invest the extra 100$ for a 11/111
so I dont realy see someone go for a 500$ + custom stock for this rifle
by the way, it is a very good rifle for its price but if you want to improve it and canot make your stock and other custom parts yourself, you will save a lot selling it and get a standard action

I was the "manufacturer" in Québec. I got a promotion at work a month ago and I had to stop making these, no more time. But there is a big market for someone wise enough to figure out a way to make them work with the mag. I had my way of doing it, so far everyone was happy with the function and the way I did it.

My basic stock, in "cheap" laminate (same stuff as the SKS from Russia, but nicer) with a rubber buttpad and aluminium trigger guard, mag capable, sold for 150$ shipped. So at that price it made sense to improve the stock.

I have none left, and I don't think I'll redo others anytime soon.

First off, if you don't have or know the answer don't post anything, it just saves time, and its true that I won't be getting any useful info out of anyone that has none. Secondly, thank you Bob for having a useful post, I hope I didn't offend by saying "cheap", what I was getting at was Boyd's makes all manner of stocks out of nicer looking laminate for around $120. BTW, Timney makes an adjustable trigger for it, there are picatinny rails available, and since I only paid $ 260 for mine I have more to spend on upgrades. All I was hoping was that someone had heard of another stock option on the grape vine like Boyd's or Stocky's or.....

Whats up Tikka6xc, the Inter-what? just havin a laugh over here! I'm sorry I should have stated originally, if you don't know if anything is coming out soon you don't have to post anything and I'll just assume you don't know. I am perfectly aware of what "is" available (nothing)and thought that among the 96000 some odd members, someone would know if anything was on the horizon or maybe someone like Bob was getting into it or back into it. Also if anyones feelings are hurt please fill out form at this link http://kristinachilds.com/pdf/Hurt-Feelings-Report.pdf

Boyds staggered feed as an option

If you are looking for a drop in axis stock then definitely look into Bob Fortiers work.

In a pinch and with some good ol canadian inginuity (sans duct tape;)), you can mod a long action savage boyds stock to fit the axis. However, you are looking at single shot feeding or hard to load blind mag option. It is difficult with beefy fingers to load the mag because the action cut out is rather small. You see, the axis is compatible for both short or long action cartridges up to 30/06.

I used a long action centerfeed mag parts within the mag well to make it compatible for anything from 243 win up to standard LA rounds like 270 and 06' as I change up barrels from time to time. Feeding is reasonable with the SA rounds.

I used a long action staggered feed stock on hand as my victim. First you need to set back the front action screw about 1/8". Then I installed a steel pillar (scavanged from a stevens 200 stock) and bedded it directly to the wood stock. Because you will remove wood that will enter the mag well (when drilling a 3/8" hole to adapt the steel pillar) Devcon will re-inforce the pillar to the wood and act as a solid unit.

For the rear action screw you will need to slowly remove wood to allow for the trigger assembly attachment parts to rest (drill and chisel a bit at a time.) Once you get it to a stress free level, then skim bed this area the same time you bed the action.

Then I full length bedded the action and recoil tab area up to 1.5" in front of the barrel nut. You will note I did not use the metal tab from the plastic stock. The recoil tab inserts about 1/4 inch into the action so I felt it is rather not a lot of support and took a risk to find out if my idea would work. So far the devcon tab is holding up well under a 270 win without shearing off any bedding material. This option may suit your purpose for a relatively low cost option as long as you are handy with some tools and know how.
Good luck in your adventure.

Thanks so much for the useful info, its much appreciated.

And to the others that posted there are no options, read elkhunters post.

Then, in the future, refer back to this.

Was that slow enough?

I have modified mine with one of Bob stock, i dare any coyotes to venture in front of my 7mm08.

Bob had mentioned ealier in thread that he had received a promotion at work and wouldn't be making them anymore, no offence to Bob but I didnt
really fall in love with his stocks, they are nice but not my cup of tea.

Thanks for the info

Just an update to my own thread, found someone on Youtube who, with little effort, fit an axis to a BSA CF2 target stock aquired through Numrich Gun Parts. Look decent and only costs 41.50, stocks come unfinished with adjustable butt plate and target channel fore-end. Would require some tinkering to fit a mag but looks like fun!

Hey there Joel, I actually just put an aftermarket stock on a friends Axis for him, very nice piece that sure fits a lot nicer than the orignal!
